Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

It is desirable authors are to write their manuscripts in English using an easily readable style. Ayurvedic terms and other Latin terms must be Italized and its equivalent English terminology should be mentioned in first instance in a bracket, for example: Amlapitta (Hyperacidity). Spelling and phraseology should be in accordance to standard English usage and should be consistent throughout the paper.

The preferred format of all manuscripts are in MS office (2003 or above). Manuscript should be concisely typewritten in 1.5 spaces in A4 sized sheets. The pages shall be numbers consequently. Only on one side, with a 1px margin on all sides. The manuscript shall be prepared in Times New Roman using a font size of 12 and title shall be font size of 14, bold space capitals. All section titles in the manuscript shall be in font size 14, bold face capitals and subtitles in each section shall be in font size 12, bold face lower case. Illustrations (Figures & Tables) must be inserted at appropriate place in the article. Standard International Units should be used throughout the text. Pages should be numbered properly. There shall not be decorative borders anywhere in the text including the title page.

The manuscript should be starting with the title page and the text should be arranged in the following order :

  • Title Page
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements
  • References

A manuscript will be considered for publication on the understanding that:

  1. All named authors have given their consent and agreed to its submission.
  2. The menuscript is not currently under consideration for publication by another journal.
  3. If the paper is accepted it will not subsequently be published in the same or similar form in any language without the consent of publishers.
  4. Authors have obtained permission from their employers or institution to publish, if they have a contractual or moral obligation to do so.

Authors will be entitled to publish any part of their paper elsewhere without permission, provided the usual acknowledgements are given. The assignment of copyright will not affect subsisting patent rights and arrangements relating to them. Original Research Articles should include, as appropriate:

  1. A clear statement of purpose
  2. A historical review when desirable
  3. A description of the procedures, methods, and subjects or materials used (previously published procedures require only references to the original).
  4. A full report of the findings, including discussion and references to relevant findings of other researchers.

Updates on progress in the main field of Ayurvedic Basic Principles, Tridosha Siddhanta, Panchamahabhuta, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics of Ayurvedic drugs, Ayurvedic drug delivery system etc.

Short Communications

Shorter descriptions of important innovative developments will be considered for preliminary publication. These should consist of two pages of text, one figure or table and upto 10 references

Case Studies

Short descriptions using several well documented case studies will be considered for preliminary publication. These should consist of 2 pages of text, figures and tables and upto 10 references.

Letters to the Editor

Brief comments on articles published in the journal or other information of interest to our readers

References 
The References must be numbered consecutively in the sequential order in which they are mentioned in the text, tables and figures. They must be cited in the text, tables and figures as the superscript  numbers, corresponding to reference in the reference list.  References list must be set out in format used the NLM (Vancouver style) in Index Medicus, giving authors’surname and initials, title of the paper, abbreviation of the Journal, year, Volume number, and first and last page numbers. Give surnames and initials of all the authors. For the various types of references items please refer to ICMJE Guidelines (http://www.icmje.org or http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html).

Submission of Manuscripts

All manuscripts must be submitted on-line through the website https://urja.gaac.co.in/index.php/urja/about/submissions. First time users will have to register at this site. Registration is free but mandatory. Registered authors can keep track of their articles after logging into the site using their user name and password.

The submitted manuscripts that are not as per the “Instructions to Authors” would be returned to the authors for technical correction, before they undergo editorial/ peer-review. Generally, the manuscript should be submitted in the form of two separate files i.e tittle page and article file.
